New York Beaches to Discover

We’ve compiled a list of beaches you should visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of New York City.

Orchard Beach

Situated in Pelham park, this is the largest open space in the city. It’s located in the Bronx and the beach is 1,6km long and offers amazing views of the city.

Brighton Beach

Located east of Coney Island, walking the boardwalk is very popular activity for the local Russian community. It’s small and quint beach with a warm ambiance. You can find amazing Eastern European restaurants.

Coney Island

This is the most famous beach in New York City. Le Luna Park, is a popular amusement park found at Coney Island. While you’re at this Brooklyn beach, you can visit the New York Aquarium. Click here for more information about Coney Island

Manhattan Beach

Originally designed for New York’s elite, this beach is located next to Brighton Beach. It’s a great place to catch some rays in a quieter beach.

Plumb Beach


Also located in Brooklyn, in Sheepshead Bay, this beach is the surfer’s favorite New York City beach.

Jacob Riis Park


Located in Queens, it’s the People’s Beach. It’s a quieter beach, but the ambiance is worth the visit. There are many musiciens, street vendors and street performers that make this beach a favorite amongst New Yorkers.

Rockaway Beach

This popular Queens beach recently renovated it’s boardwalk and it’s very well received. It’s New York City’s biggest beach in length. You can see surfers year long hitting the waves.

Cedar Grove Beach

This beach is located in Staten Island and it’s New York City’s latest acquisition.  It used to be a private beach belonging to a private Staten Island community. 

Midland Beach

Midland beach is located in Staten Island. It’s a great place for the family to have a picnic, take a long walk along the boardwalk. Kids will love the sea turtle fountain. You can also visit a museum dedicated to world wars.

South Beach

South Beach in New York City shares the same boardwalk as Midland Beach. It’s known for it’s amazing views of Verrazano-Narrows bridge and it’s fishing off the dock. You will be greeted by a bronze dolphin fountain.

Wolfe’s Pond Park

This beach is known to see birds, animals and aquatic plants. There are many walking trails for those who love to be outside.
