Coronavirus quarantine: 50 things to do at home

We’re are living in unprecedented times and we’re forced to make changes in our daily lives. Who would have thought last month that the planet would be on hold. The coronavirus quarantine has forced us to stay home. We understand the importance of spending time with your loved ones.

Here is the good news: You will never have this opportunity again. Take advantage of these moments. Many of us have exhausted our Netflix watch list and are starting to get bored being in quarantine.

Here is a list of 50 things to do during the Coronavirus quarantine:

1- Go for a car ride and count the “Everything will be alright” rainbows.

2- Do a fitness class on Youtube. Click here for an example of a fitness class suited for the whole family.

3- Play hide and seek in your house or backyard.

4- Play tag in your backyard.

5- Put together a puzzle or try to solve the Rubik’s cube.

6- Meditation. Have you tried Headspace app? You can get 10 free sessions to get you started.

7- Start a blog based on your interest.

8- Watch an old movie without any sound and make up your own dialogue.

9- Clean out your closet and sell clothes you don’t wear anymore. You can sell them using Facebook Live session while doing a fashion show.

10- Learn to draw. There are many videos on Youtube. Click here for a great drawing channel.

11- Learn to cook. You can watch Ricardo’s video to inspire you.

12- Try to match the covers with your tupperware. Tupperware is like socks, you always end up missing one.

13- Rent all Rocky movies and watch them one after another.

14- Play Uno. You should also try this card game called Timeline Canada. You will learn about important historical dates.

15- Take a shot at knitting.

17- Have your kids interview their grandparents. “How did you meet”, “What’s the difference of living in 2020 than 1960”, etc.

18- Make a list of the top 10 things that you are grateful. Take turns to read it to family members or Facetime your friends to share your list.

19- Do a treasure hunt. Could be inside the house and your backyard.

20- Prepare a play and perform it on Zoom for your family and friends.

21- Do your taxes. I know it’s boring but it will be done. The sooner you do your taxes, the sooner you a your refund.

22- Reorganize your furniture with your kids. It will be like being in a new house.

23- Have a wig party with your family and use Zoom to reach out to your friends remotely. Alcohol and wigs are a perfect combo!

24- Do a yoga class using Youtube videos. There are tons of them. It’s great for your flexibility and to keep you Zen.

25- Mail yourself a letter on where will you be in 5 years. When you receive it, keep it in a safe place and open it in 5 years.

26- Play a game of Jenga.

27- Have a ladies night with the men too. Everyone gets a mud mask and watch chick flicks.

28- Have an afternoon pyjama party.

29- Play hide the stuffed animal. You hide a stuffed animal somewhere in the house and guide your family members by letting them know if they’re hot or cold.

30- Do a virtual tour of the Guggenheim Museum of New York. Click here to visit the virtual museum.

33- Learn spanish. You have time. No excuses! There are many app like Babbel or Duolingo.

34- Play your board games. A game of Risk or Monopoly is the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

35- Invent a song and perform for your family and friends using remote video software.

36- Learn to play an instrument or continue getting better with the instruments you already know.

37- Rework your Bucket List.

38- Read a book or listen to one on Audible.

39- Post something on Pinterest. You can create a board with things that interest you and share with your friends.

40- Create a list of goals for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

42- Dye your hair a new color. The Billie Eilish look is in!

43- Take out the legos and do a fun project with or without kids.

44- Get everyone in the house to move in slow motion for a few minutes. This could be a daily ritual.

45- Do a remote happy hour with your friends. You can install the Houseparty app. You can be up to 6 people on the chat. Do you know a better way to prepare dinner than to do it with friends and a good glass of wine or three?

46- Finish the renovations you always talk about.

47- Take out colouring books. Adults can colour too!

48- Take out old photo albums, scan them and tag your friends on Facebook. It’s bound to start up interesting conversations.

49- Take a bubble bath with a glass of wine.

And finally, maybe the most important one…

50- Get some sleep; We finally have time to rest.
