Spring is here! The long weekends of Easter and Victoria Day are just around the corner. After endless months of being cooped up, we all want to get away. While many of us often take advantage of these few days of respite to book a family getaway to New York or Boston, this year we’re staying in Quebec. But just because we have to stay here doesn’t mean our spring family vacation won’t be a success. Here are a few suggestions of hotels to visit in a family bubble and that will make you live memorable moments!
1. Manoir du Lac William
When I tell my daughters about a getaway at the Manoir du Lac William, it’s total hysteria in the house! Located in a beautiful corner of the Central Quebec countryside, this establishment warmly welcomes families by making them feel at home, without the chores that come with it! Packages that include on-site activities, meals, access to the Nordic spa and indoor pool make planning a family vacation as easy as possible.
This way, mom, dad and the kids can make the most of their stay and add a treatment or two at the hotel’s health center; why not? Some of the treatments are created especially for children and the therapists who provide them are excellent. This is a great opportunity to introduce your kids to a spa experience. During long weekends and spring break, special activities may be offered, depending on government and public health guidelines. Here is a suggested package for Easter.
2. L’Estérel Resort
A superb lakeside resort, L’Estérel offers modern and spacious suites that cater to the needs of families. Its three restaurants offer tasty cuisine and a children’s menu that is the envy of parents! In addition, an all-inclusive package is available if you don’t feel like cooking or breaking a sweat. If you prefer to bring your own food, a fully equipped kitchenette allows you to prepare simple meal. The thermal spa welcomes children in some of its pools, so they can enjoy the benefits of the heat/cold cycle as much as you do.
3. Fairmont Tremblant
This warm hotel offers royal service to both parents and children. On our last visit, the front desk clerk gave my two daughters gifts to welcome them. They were delighted to do a puzzle and paint a little canvas, while my husband and I were equally delighted that their new surprises kept them busy while we prepared to go out. If you stay in the comfort of your room for meals, either by obligation or by choice, know that the service is impeccable and the breakfasts are absolutely delicious!
No matter what time of year you visit Tremblant, the Fairmont’s prime location is sure to accommodate you. Keep in mind, however, that for a ski trip, this establishment is perfect. Located at the bottom of the slopes, it offers ski valet and the ski-in/ski-out experience. The large stone fireplace in the lobby is the perfect place to warm up after a day of skiing, and the outdoor year-round heated pools provide a great view of the slopes. Click here to view packages.
4. Résidence Inn by Marriott Manoir Labelle Tremblant
Another hotel located in the pedestrian village of Tremblant is perfect for families, especially for an extended stay. It is the Marriott Residences Manoir Labelle Tremblant. Its spacious rooms and suites offer all the amenities of home: living room with fireplace, full kitchen, dining room and closed bedroom, depending on the type of accommodation selected.
Connected to Casey’s Bar and Grill restaurant, where a children’s menu is offered, it’s possible to enjoy a little incognito dining without ever having to leave the hotel. But if you remembered to bring your own food or use the hotel’s free grocery ordering service, you can just as easily whip up your favorite homemade dishes in the comfort of your unit. Another bonus: varied and hearty breakfasts, usually served buffet style, are included with all overnight stays.
5. Auberge du Lac Taureau
Its location in the middle of nature makes this hotel complex the ideal place to relax with the family. Its sandy beach adjacent to the lake is a delight for children in the summer, as are all the water sports and activities offered there. In winter, the site has a beautiful skating rink to practice some pirouettes, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing trails, as well as tubing. You can also fish, ride a fatbike or take a dog sled ride.
Beside, there are several lodging options to meet the needs of families: inns, condos or waterfront chalets. In addition, some rooms also accommodate canine friends so that every member of the family can be part of the experience. Packages including meals, activities and/or spa treatments are also suggested and the pool area and heated baths are available year-round with all overnight stays. Not to mention that childcare services are available. If you feel like it, here is a suggestion for an Easter package.
6. Domaine du Château Bromont
Strategically located at the foot of the slopes of Bromont Mountain, the Domaine offers the possibility of staying at an inn, a condo or a hotel. During our last visit during March Break, we chose to stay directly at the Château Bromont hotel. The shuttle service and ski storage made our getaway with the kids easy. Also, I recommend paying a few extra dollars to reserve a two-story junior suite. My daughters had their own little corner on the mezzanine and their own TV, providing more comfort and space for our little family.
During the warmer seasons, many other activities for families can be enjoyed near the hotel complex: water park on the mountain, hebertism course, visit of the Granby Zoo, etc. In addition, an indoor pool in the middle of an atrium and another outdoor pool promise to entertain the children. Finally, the room service and breakfasts are excellent. No reason to miss it!
7. Bel Air Tremblant Resort
Nestled in an enchanting site in the Laurentians, Bel Air Tremblant Resort offers unusual accommodations that enchant young and less young. Whether you stay in a dome, a pod or a 2 to 4 bedroom miniloft, these beautiful, modern and luxurious homes will charm you with their special character. There is no shortage of entertainment and services offered on site to keep the whole family busy during their stay. The Club House offers several activities and a multitude of outdoor activities can be practiced on the vast complex throughout the seasons.
8. Manoir St-Sauveur
Less than a 60-minute drive from Montreal (if Highway 15 is clear!) is the Manoir St-Sauveur, a vast hotel complex that caters to the needs of the entire family. Its spacious suites with fully equipped kitchens, its Kids Club offered on weekends, the indoor and outdoor pools, the thermal spa, the multi-sports field, the outdoor playground and the variety of packages offered including activities for all tastes, promise a family vacation well filled.
9. Valcartier Hotel
The Valcartier Hotel, located near Quebec City, is entirely designed for families. Its spacious rooms and suites can accommodate both small and large households, so that they can fully enjoy a comfortable stay. On site, a wide range of fun and relaxing activities are offered to ensure that parents and children find what they need: tubing and skating, ice hotel, indoor and outdoor water parks, restaurants and spa, etc.
Note that the thermal experience is accessible to children from 5 years old on weekend mornings. A great opportunity to relax as a family after having done all the activities. No one will be bored at the Valcartier Hotel, which is part of a vast complex. It is not for nothing that it is called Valcartier Vacation Village. It’s a real small town designed for fun!
10. Hôtel & Suites Normandin Lévis
With 2 establishments in Quebec City and one in Levis, this small 100% Quebec chain offers modern and cozy rooms at friendly prices, including elaborate continental breakfasts! Spacious family rooms with a small corner for children can be rented. A year-round heated swimming pool/jacuzzi is available on site, so you can relax and swim a few laps after the day. The kids loved to take a dip in the pool during our last visit in January. We will definitely go back during the summer to try a package with activities. It is a good compromise to visit Quebec City and its surroundings without breaking the bank.
